By keeping the tile and grout clean and fresh looking it can make all the difference in how your flooring or shower stall will look. One of the best ways to clean your tile is to use a clean cloth and warm water. Wipe it gently with the warm water and remove any light soil on the tile. There are many people who use vinegar to clean their tile. This is not recommended because it can damage the surface and in some instances change the color of your grout. While vinegar appears to clean well there can be some disadvantages to it when cleaning tile. There are items that you can purchase that are made to clean tile and grout but you have to follow the instructions carefully and only use them as specified for your tile. Never use more then the instructions say and make sure it is safe to use on tile surfaces before you start. Not all tiles are made out of the same materials so be careful on how you clean your tile.
If you have to scour an area on your tile to remove dirt and grime, try and use a non abrasive cleaner for doing this. This is safer for cleaning your tile and should keep it from getting damaged. For cleaning your grout, use a brush that is soft. Some people use a toothbrush with soft bristles for cleaning their grout. This helps to get into the small crevices in between the tile. After cleaning your tile and grout it is important to rinse it thoroughly to remove all the dirt and residue that is left behind. After rinsing you should dry the area with a soft dry cloth and buff it out. After you are finished drying it, let it set for a while to make sure the tile and grout are as dry as they can get. Then in certain areas you may need to apply more sealant. Sealing in between the tile is a very important step to complete the job. Go over it carefully with the sealant and make it smooth cleaning off any over flow of the sealant. Then let the sealant dry before using the tiled area. After this your tile will be finished and will look brand new.
